Amsterdams bont kom (14 cm)

Amsterdams bont is de verzamelnaam voor geglazuurd wit porselein, eventueel met blauwe decoraties wat in China vervaardigd werd voor de Europese markt. In Nederland werd het Chinese porselein vervolgens voorzien van een meerkleurige beschildering met bijvoorbeeld bloemen, dieren, bloemenmandjes of historische figuren. Daarna werd het overgeschilderde porselein verhit op 600-770 graden celsius waardoor de decoratie gefixeerd werd op de geglazuurde ondergrond.

 

Amsterdams bont is Dutch name for porcelain that was produced, glazed and sometimes decorated with underglaze blue figures in China. In the Netherlands the Chinese porcelain was subsequently over-painted with colorful decorations of flowers, flower baskets, animals or historical figures. The clobbered porcelain pieces were heated to 600-770 degrees celsius which fixed the decoration to the glazed surface.
